Heartbroken in Boulder

Got my heart broken in Boulder

Yes it was broken in two

Good thing my heart is as big as those skies

And good thing that heartbreak was not something new

I knew I had a big problem

Your friend was talking to me

He told me that it was love at first sight

But I’d thought it was you who loved me

So off I went with all the night

The whole time thinking of you

Half of me angry, half of me drunk

What else can a lonely girl do?

Got my heart broken in Boulder

I’m still trying to figure out why

I guess in the end I grew stronger

But I don’t recommend it, I had a terrible time

You put me back on that airplane

Thanked me for traveling far

I held back the tears til I got to the gate

I sat there and I cried

I got my heart broken in Boulder

I’m still trying to figure out why

I guess in the end I grew stronger

And at least it was done

Under a beautiful sky

Packed up my bags with dreams for the day

A young heart ready for love

It happened so quickly, I’d fallen for you

My Spanish love

Got off the plane, I saw you there

The look in your eyes had changed

I hurriedly tried to reshuffle my cards

I’d shown up, unprepared for this game

Got my heart broken in Boulder

Good thing that it didn’t die

Cause I felt a crack, go right through my chest

Under those beautiful skies

We crowded into that big yellow truck

A friend of yours came along

No flowers, no kisses, no smiles and no hug

I wondered how I got this so wrong
